Building Hours
The Northwest exterior doors are unlocked Monday - Friday, 6am-10pm. Corridors, labs and specialized areas are locked according to local schedules. If you have questions about access to a specific area of the building, please contact Jesselynn Opie or the local area manager.
Building Access Using Your Harvard ID Card
Your Harvard ID card is your access to spaces that are protected by a card reader – including the exterior doors after hours. You may request card access by submitting a Card Access Request Form through your department administrator to Northwest Building Operations. Access will be granted within 24 hours of the request. If your Harvard ID is lost or stolen, contact Northwest Building Operations, room 102 at 496-6505 as soon as possible to deactivate the card and then go to Harvard ID Services the next business day for a replacement card. Harvard ID Services is located at Harvard Campus Services, Holyoke Center, room 807, 496-7827. Once your receive your replacement card, please contact Jesselynn Opie to verify that previous Northwest & MCZ Labs clearances remain intact on your ID number.
Keys
Requests for keys can be made through your department/center administrator, through PRESTO or to Jesselynn Opie, 496-6505 or James McKenna at 496-6634. An email will be sent to the requester when keys are ready; keys should be picked up at Northwest Building Operations, room 102 unless other arrangements are made. Visitors may gain temporary access and should return keys upon departure.
Security
A security guard is stationed at the southwest entrance and a roving guard covers the entire complex (495-4964) after 4pm weekdays and 24 hours on weekends including holidays and during university breaks.
Event sponsors should hire a Harvard University Police detail if there are cash transactions or other event features that would trigger this requirement. Questions about these policies should be directed to Northwest Building Operations at 496-6505.

Lock Out Procedure
If you are locked out of the building during regular business hours, contact the Northwest Building Operations Office at 496-6505. After hours, contact the security guard at 495-4964 (or call the Harvard Operations Control Center at 495-5560).
